On 28.05.2016, the Saxon University Basketball Championship took place in Görlitz for the first time. Teams from Leipzig, Dresden, Mittweida and Zittau traveled to Görlitz to determine their best in the men's and women's competitions. The teams of the Zittauer Falcons and the Görlitz Basketball Club Squirrels competed in the men's and women's tournaments. A total of 3 women's and 8 men's teams took part in the tournament. Despite tropical temperatures in the hall, it was a tournament with exciting games. The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences team was able to secure 2nd place in the women's section. Despite bad luck with injuries, our men's team was able to achieve 3rd place. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Tony Brim from our university team a good recovery. The TU Dresden was able to defend its title and, as in the previous year, became Saxony champion, followed by the HS Mittweida, who finished in 2nd place. The University Sports Office would like to thank all the helpers and especially the Squirrels and Falcons for their active support in organizing the tournament. Many thanks also to the student club Maus for the successful after-show party.
