W2-Professorship (m/f/d) "Social work with mentally ill people" - Reference number: SP-075 -

The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

• Mental illness
• Clinical social work and psychosocial counseling
• Methods of qualitative social research

The teaching duties are to be carried out in lectures, seminars, exercises, internships and projects as well as in continuing education. The ability and willingness to participate in integrative, practice-oriented and internship-related teaching units is required. Class / courses must also be held in English. It is expected that classes / courses related to the field of appointment will be taken on.

In addition to teaching duties, independent research and development tasks in the field of appointment must be carried out. A corresponding level of commitment is required. The candidate must be actively involved in the International Affairs of the university and the further development of the subject area. Tasks in academic self-administration are to be assumed. In addition, commitment to projects in the field of knowledge and technology transfer is expected.

Appointment requirements

The prerequisites for appointment are a completed academic university degree, preferably in the subjects of social work, human medicine, psychology or a related discipline, a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training, a special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, as well as special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of usually five years, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.

Practical experience in the fields of clinical social work, psychological, psychotherapeutic or psychiatric care should be available. Furthermore, research and teaching skills in the methods of qualitative, in particular reconstructive social research are required.

Reference is made to the Saxon Higher Education Act of May 31, 2023 (SächsGVBl. 2023 No. 12, p. 329), which was last amended by Article 2 of the Act of January 31, 2024 (SächsGVBl. p. 83).

The following knowledge and skills are also required

• Proven relevance of the professional career to the content and tasks of the professorship
• Ability to develop the professional identity of the students, to impart relevant specialist knowledge and to identify with the special phenomena/challenges of the subject (pedagogical-didactic aptitude), whereby corresponding teaching experience must be demonstrated,
• Experience in applied research and knowledge transfer.
• Experience in the conception, establishment and accreditation of degree programs as well as in the acquisition of third-party funding is advantageous.
