The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill a part-time position (30 hours/week) in the Student Services & International Affairs division as soon as possible for the role of

Admissions Office Clerk (m/f/d)

- Reference: 66-2024 DSI International -

permanent position.

The position holder will be responsible for the following tasks in particular:

  • Providing advice to prospective students, applicants, and current students (with a focus on international university admission), both in person, by phone, and via email;
  • Collaborating with the Student Office of the 'Studienkolleg' (preparatory college) and coordinating with Saxony’s universities of applied sciences regarding the admission of applications to the 'Studienkolleg'; assisting with the organization of orientation and information sessions for students at the 'Studienkolleg', and assisting with the entrance exams,
  • Technical preparation of the application portal for the 'Studienkolleg' (preparatory college),
  • Processing of applications for admission to higher education, enforcement of the regulations for admission—particularly regarding international applicants with special admission requirements (direct admission)—and enforcement of the procedural regulations ('Studienkolleg' (preparatory college)),
  • Collaboration with the Foreigner's Registration Office, the Residents’ Registration Office, health insurance providers, the Foreigners’ Advisory Council, etc.,
  • Providing administrative support to international students,
  • Maintaining statistics on international students and college students,
  • Providing technical support for digitization projects in the area of the Campus Management System.

This position offers opportunities for advancement to a department head role.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • A degree in economics or public administration,
  • professional experience and knowledge in a higher education setting or in the field of administrative processes in general,
  • good command of English and, if applicable, other languages,
  • intercultural skills as well as experience communicating with diverse stakeholders,
  • excellent self-management skills,
  • comprehensive knowledge of MS Office software,
  • an affinity for digital tools and media.

In addition, the following are desirable:

  • knowledge of the specific requirements for the admission of international students, particularly those in preparatory programs (e.g., the Saxon Higher Education Act, ZAB, BAMF)
  • experience in student counseling,
  • experience in supporting international students,
  • Experience in course management,
  • and experience working with government agencies.

Further information

Salary is based on pay grade 9b of the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the candidate meets the personal qualifications. The primary work location is Zittau.
