Engineering education conference in Bremen: six contributions from the HSZG presented

Participants were treated to a varied programme on the topic of "Technical education in the context of digitalization/automation - trends, opportunities, prospects". This was based on current research and teaching contributions, reports and illustrative practical examples. The following contributions were successfully presented by employees of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in the form of lectures and posters:

• Augmented reality: From Pepper's ghost (1862) to the Damocles sword (1968) to Hololens 2 (2019) and application in technical education by Daniel Winkler, Thomas Müller and Ronny Freudenreich
• Augmentation versus reduction" - possibilities and opportunities of didactic reduction through augmented reality in technical education by Daniel Winkler
• Digital skills in university teaching - 10,000 steps in the footsteps of a "picker" by Sophia Keil, Kevin Mühlan, Daniel Winkler and Fabian Lindner
• Flipped classroom in engineering education using the example of design engineering by Thomas Müller and Bernd Bellair
• Thermo-Active - A teaching-learning concept for actively ensuring understanding and differentiated performance promotion by Tobias Fieback, Rhena Wulf, Ronny Freudenreich, Timon Umlauft and Hans-Joachim Kretzschmar
• Thermopr@ctice - An interactive learning system for calculating exercises with MATHCAD by Hans-Joachim Kretzschmar, Ines Jähne, Sebastian Herrmann, Mareike Schneider and Ronny Freudenreich

In summary, in addition to well-founded scientific contributions, the conference offered the opportunity to think outside the box and to discuss topics such as national and international concepts of engineering education, the integration of digitized teaching/learning elements, the importance of classroom teaching, etc. in detail and also to further develop one's own networks.
