HSZG successful at "Young Scientist 2015"

1st place among students and 2nd place among doctoral students in Jelenia Gora

Benedikt Sauer, a student in the Housing and Real Estate Management degree programme, and Sebastian Herrmann, a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, successfully represented Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences at the “Young Scientist 2015” conference.

Benedikt Sauer, advised by Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Stefan Kofner, was particularly successful; with his presentation on “Social Housing in Bavaria: Funding Goals, Funding Programs, and Goal Achievement,” which particularly impressed the jury and earned him first place in the student category.

No less successful was Sebastian Herrmann, who, in the doctoral student category, presented on his dissertation topic “Simultaneous Viscosity and Density Measurements of Gases Across Wide Temperature and Pressure Ranges Using a Vibrating-Wire Viscometer and a Single-Immersion-Body Density Measurement System,” and took second place. Sebastian Herrmann is supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Hans-Joachim Kretzschmar.

It would be desirable if, in particular, even more students would take advantage of this opportunity to present the results of their scientific work. The consistently successful participation to date by Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, with its undergraduate and graduate students, demonstrates the enormous potential our university possesses.
