The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is seeking to fill a part-time position as part of the research project "T!Raum - syntral - Dezentraler Lausitz Campus - Teilprojekt 2:

Digital teaching methods in plastics processing", a part-time position (30 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as a

to be filled for a limited period until 31.03.2027.

How can teaching content in technical degree programs be conveyed better and more attractively using interactive tools? How can I get students excited about new software solutions and VR/AR? Can I use the virtual injection molding machine in my VR environment to learn how to operate the machine just as well as on a real machine?
These and similar questions will be researched, developed and tested with students together with partners from industry, research and education. The position includes the following profile in particular:

  • Conceptualization and implementation of creative technology workshops in the field of plastics processing, lightweight construction and additive manufacturing,
  • Support in the graphic and didactic optimization of existing lecture materials in the field of plastics processing with the help of interactive tools, e.g. virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR),
  • Presentation of the developed VR software DigiKunst to interested entrepreneurs and citizens of Upper Lusatia
    3D design of demonstrative plastic components for large-format printing,
  • Attendance at specialist events (trade fairs, conferences, etc.) to transfer the results to industry and science,
  • permanent coordination and close collaboration with the cooperation partners.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • (University degree in a technical field (mechanical engineering, plastics technology, lightweight construction, product design),
  • Many years of experience in dealing with new technologies (3D printing, 3D scanning) and new media (virtual/augmented reality),
  • Interest and skills in preparing and designing events, especially seminars and creative technology workshops,
  • applicable skills in construction and graphic design software,
  • good written and spoken English skills.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Experience in higher education or other public institutions,
  • project experience in the field of research.
