Canceled: 2020 Graduation Ceremony

On April 18, our university will hold its tenth central graduation ceremony. “Central” means that the invited Bachelor, Diplom, and master’s graduates from all degree programmes and both campuses will be honored together. In a festive setting—and usually in the presence of their proud families—the graduates are sent off into this new chapter of their lives with a small gift from the HSZG.

The ceremony will be accompanied by a musical program, which will once again highlight the festive occasion this year. As part of the central graduation ceremony, the HSZG Friends Association will present awards to the top graduates of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The second highlight of the day is the joint dedication of the Alumni Tree in the Student Park. This tree was planted in 2009 on the open space at the corner of Kantstraße and Hochwaldstraße, following an initiative by the Student Council. At that time, the first 15 trees were planted together with the Mayor of Zittau, the Rectors of the universities, and the Student Council. Since then, 28 new trees have been added. Thus, on April 18, the 44th tree will add greenery to the Student Park.

The day will culminate in the University Ball that evening, where guests will celebrate and dance late into the night to the music of the party band Jolly Jumper. The University Ball will take place at the Zittau Volkshaus at Äußere Weberstraße 6.
