PerspektiveArbeit Lausitz (PAL)

Duration

October 1, 2023–October 31, 2026

The PerspektiveArbeit Lausitz (PAL) project brings together the expertise of interdisciplinary teams specializing in labor research and engineering from five universities, as well as 27 companies and associations from Saxony and Brandenburg. The project’s goal is to make the working environment in the Lausitz region more efficient, attractive, and healthier through the use of data-driven assistance systems.

HSZG Subproject: "Human Resources Development Supported by AI Assistance Systems / Digital Twins"

As part of the subproject at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG), the use of AI assistance systems and digital twins in human resources development is being investigated and promoted. These technologies offer customized learning programs, automated feedback mechanisms, and real-time support, enabling companies to increase productivity and reduce costs.

By using small, efficient AI models, it is possible to implement specialized solutions locally in a cost-effective and data-protection-compliant manner. Such models are powerful and adaptable to a company’s specific needs. In addition, multimodal AI systems improve interaction—for example, by analyzing visual data in production processes—which leads to optimized workflows and good resource utilization.

Particular attention is being paid to the implementation of these technological innovations into existing operational processes. Studies show that only 5% of such implementations are successful. Therefore, the subproject takes an ergonomics-based approach that, unlike previous solutions, first takes into account the framework conditions of the existing operational organization. This creates a tailored foundation for developing competency requirements for working with AI assistance systems, ensuring the successful implementation of new digital technologies within the company.
