Ideas need space. And we have it—whether for workshops, networking events, or professional development sessions. Here you’ll find, among other things, a conference camera, (digital) whiteboards, good coffee, and everything else you need to tackle tomorrow’s problems innovatively today. Researchers from Zittau or Görlitz can easily reserve one of the individual workstations for a quick change of scenery.

Here’s what we can offer you:

    1. Guidance on booking CELSIUZ and on planning and preparing events at CELSIUZ

    2. Our facilities, free of charge for HSZG:

    • Space for 30–50 people (depending on the event setup)
    • Presentation screen, digital whiteboard, flip chart, bulletin boards, HSZG Wi-Fi
    • Fully equipped kitchen

    3. Access to the Saxony5 network at the other four participating universities, e.g., for research and collaboration inquiries or to publicize events

  • Ambient Assisted Living

The AAL Lab is a model apartment located within a senior-friendly housing complex in Görlitz. The lab features assistive technologies designed to support seniors in their daily lives and in their own homes, particularly those living in rural areas. These assistive technologies are tested with users in the lab to determine whether they truly contribute to improving quality of life in old age.

Here’s what we can offer you:

    1. We offer you access to the AAL Lab and age-appropriate assistive technologies, and we assist with questions related to human-technology interaction, (in)formal care, and social gerontology.

    2. We provide you with access to the older population and the care sector and support you with our practical experience working with this target group.

    3. We support you in organizing workshops and events on related topics by providing

    • facilities (use of the AAL Lab)
    • help with organization
    • Contributions (e.g., technology demonstrations, presentations)
    • Promotion within our network
    • Follow-up (evaluation and news articles).

  • Computer-aided transfer

To facilitate the transfer of AI knowledge to science, companies and society, the "AI technology platform" is available for the transfer of executable AI use cases. Using rapid prototyping, AI use cases can be demonstrated and shared in a low-investment and therefore low-threshold manner (saving on the purchase of hardware). This digital platform can also be used to develop and conduct training courses, for example.

    What we can offer you:

    1. we support you in accessing the AI technology platform and offer you assistance in using it and mediate in case of problems.

    2. we can advise you on how you can use the "AI technology platform" sensibly for your transfer.

    3. you have a realized use case (implemented in Python, R, Octave or Julia) that you would like to transfer to your target group. We will advise and support you in transferring your, preferably AI-related, use cases to the technology platform.

  • CELSIUZ Lab & Decision Theater

Shaping the energy and heating transition! But how? That’s what Zittaus’s latest theater production is all about. The plays feature local governments and municipal utilities, housing associations, homeowners, and tenants. To ensure that it’s not all improvisation, researchers behind the scenes develop models and simulations and provide cues to the actors. Whether they succeed in incorporating the university’s latest research findings into the energy supply of future neighborhoods—and whether everyone reaches an agreement in the finale—is up to you, too!

Here’s what we offer the university’s energy researchers:

    1. Together with you, we’ll create an engaging visualization of your project or selected results—online or on the video wall for guests at celsiuz.

    2. We’ll conduct a moderated problem analysis and initial consultation with you and your clients, identify research questions, and help define goals that will drive the project forward.

    3. We’ll work with you to model the technology you’re researching and implement it in design software. This will make your innovation visible during the conceptual phase of our partners’ projects.
