Purposes of data processing

The HSZG is conducting a research project on stress management strategies in the context of studying. This requires the participation of students as test subjects in an experiment and as interview participants. Suitable test subjects must be found in advance of the experiment and the interviews. The basic willingness to participate should be requested via e-mail and the suitability as a test person should be determined with a questionnaire. Personal data must be processed for these projects.

Categories of personal data

The following personal data is processed to determine the willingness of potential test subjects to participate.

  • Student e-mail address
  • class

 

The following personal data is processed to determine the suitability of potential test subjects.

  • Surname and first name
  • Student e-mail address
  • Data in connection with the processing of an online survey

 

The following personal data is processed as part of the experiment and the interviews.

  • Audio recording of the interview
  • Creation of a transcript of the interview

Legal basis

The processing of personal data in the context of determining a basic willingness to participate in the research project is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interest. In particular, the HSZG has a legitimate interest in the realization of research projects.

The processing of personal data in the further course of the research project is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR on the basis of informed consent.

If special categories of personal data are processed in accordance with Art. 9 para. 1 GDPR, this is done on the basis of consent in accordance with Art. 9 para. 2 lit. a GDPR.

Recipients

The HSCG only discloses personal data to the following internal recipients for the purposes of this processing activity:

  • Members of the research team

The HSZG does not directly transfer personal data to a third country or an international organization.

Storage duration

Without prejudice to your right to erasure(Art. 17 GDPR), your personal data will be processed for the duration of the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected.

Insofar as the research purpose permits, the characteristics are stored separately from the other data in order to establish the personal reference. The characteristics will be deleted at the earliest possible time as soon as the research purpose permits.

However, the complete deletion or anonymization of personal data will take place by the end of the summer semester 2024 at the latest.

Rights of the data subjects

As a person affected by the processing of your personal data, you have the following rights if the legal requirements are met:

  • You have the right to information about the processing of your personal data(Art. 15 GDPR).
  • You have the right to rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you (Art.16 GDPR)
  • You have the right to erasure of your personal data (Art.17 GDPR).
  • You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data (Art.18 GDPR)
  • You have the right to data portability of your personal data (Art.20 GDPR)
  • You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time (Art.21 GDPR)
  • You have the right to withdraw your consent to data processing at any time. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out on the basis of your consent until revocation remains unaffected(Art. 13 para. 2 lit. c GDPR).
  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Saxon data protection officer

Provision of personal data

The provision of personal data is not required by law or contract in accordance with Art. 13 (2) lit. e GDPR.

Decision-making and profiling

This processing activity does not involve automated decision-making or profiling in accordance with Art. 22 GDPR.
