HDS Workshop: Teaching through Making - Designing learning spaces in the university makerspace

The one-day workshop is aimed at teachers - especially from STEM subjects - who want to tap into the potential of makerspaces for teaching, learning and creative knowledge acquisition.

Begin 01. October 2025 - 09:30 Uhr
End 01. October 2025 - 16:30 Uhr
What

This one-day workshop is designed for educators—particularly those teaching STEM subjects—who wish to explore the potential of the makerspace for teaching, learning, and creative knowledge acquisition. The goal is to collaboratively explore the conditions necessary for the pedagogically meaningful use of “making,” gain initial hands-on experience with digital tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting), and develop concrete ideas for applying these concepts to their own teaching.

Following a hands-on introduction that includes a workshop tour, participants will reflect on the pedagogical possibilities of “making” from the perspective of their respective disciplines. Simple models are created and tested. Finally, scenarios for its use in teaching and the curriculum are discussed—for example, in the context of project work, coursework, or experimental phases.
