At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz (HSZG), Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a part-time position (20 hours/week) is available as part of a federal and state-funded project "Developing, promoting and utilizing potential - attracting professorial staff through internal and external cooperation".

Research assistant in automation technology (m/f/d)

- Reference: 34-2024-ProKoop-Automation Technology -

to be filled on a temporary basis until 31.12.2028.

The program to promote the recruitment and development of professorial staff at universities of applied sciences supports universities of applied sciences in the introduction and expansion of structurally effective instruments for recruiting academic excellence. These are developed in sub-projects with the active participation of the faculties of the HSCG and brought together by the overarching project structure, taking into account the central strategic goals of the HSCG.

In the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science' at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science', the above-mentioned position provides the opportunity to obtain the eligibility for appointment in accordance with § 59 SächsHSG and thus the basis for an academic career as a university lecturer.

The area of responsibility can be adapted to focus on teaching or research so that the incomplete or missing requirements for fulfilling the eligibility for appointment can be achieved in the course of this employment.

The position includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Conducting classes / courses in the field of project planning, simulation, or control and regulation technology,
  • Supervision of students in practice-oriented projects and theses,
  • Participation in the further development of teaching materials and curricula,
  • Planning, implementation and execution of research papers and projects in the field of automation technology and mechatronics.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed scientific university degree in the field of electrical engineering or mechatronics, alternatively with a FH Diplom in these fields and the willingness to pursue a cooperative doctorate,
  • Prerequisites for obtaining eligibility for appointment:
    • Completed doctorate or willingness to complete a doctorate during the project period
    • at least three years of professional experience outside a university in accordance with § 59 (1) No. 4c SächsHSG (can also be gained in parallel during the project period),
  • sound knowledge and practical experience in at least one of the following areas
    • Modeling and simulation
    • project planning
    • Control and regulation technology
    • project management
    • Sensor/actuator technology,
  • Experience in the implementation of research projects and the application of scientific methods.

The following are also desirable

  • Didactic skills and experience in university teaching,
  • Good knowledge of English.

Further information

Remuneration for tariff employees is based on the TV-L pay scale (Appendix A). In the case of a scientific university degree (Master's degree, univ. Diplom or accredited Master's degree from a university of applied sciences), a grouping in EG 13 TV-L is provided for. In the case of an engineering degree from a university of applied sciences (Dipl.-Ing. (FH) or Bachelor's degree), the grouping is made in accordance with division II/22.1 of the TV-L pay scale for engineers and employees in technical professions up to EG 12. A probationary period is agreed. The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences strives for a balanced employee structure and therefore welcomes applications from people of all genders.
