Robot ride at Seifhennersdorf grammar school

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences lets Seifhennersdorf high school students drive the robot

During the project week of grades 6-10 at Oberlandgymnasium Seifhennersdorf, 10 pupils taught small robots how to drive. The week's task was to enable the robots to navigate a labyrinth independently. The necessary knowledge was imparted by Dipl.-Ing. Egmont Schreiter from the "Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science" at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The supervising computer science teacher, Ms. Ramona Antes, was pleased that the students were able to experience for themselves how mathematics and computer science are applied in practice. The groups enjoyed seeing how their ideas were implemented by the machines. It was necessary to program the commands for reading the sensors, controlling the motors and the dependencies between them. The ability to analyze problems when developing such programs was also trained in a fun way. The results achieved were presented by the students themselves at the open day.
