Girls gathered information on the topic of "Girls on the Internet - but safely!" and interesting opportunities and prospects in computer science on Girls' Day 2015 in the Department of Computer Science. All the places in the computer science department's network and IT security lab were fully booked. There was a lot to learn about opportunities and risks on the internet and in social networks.
Professor Marietta Spangenberg used examples to show that the Internet forgets nothing, what cyberbullying means, what the consequences of identity theft can be and what traces you leave behind on the Internet or with your smartphone.
Together they worked out how to create secure passwords and how to deal with them.

The most exciting part was the network experiments. The access data for logging on to a server in the lab was spied out and awareness of encryption and secure passwords was developed.
The girls found out what the internet knows about them and a quiz was held to test their knowledge of smartphone security. They experienced the broad spectrum and exciting field of computer science.
One girl concluded at the end of the event: "Now I'm even more interested in computer science than before."
