Great news for our students! The teaching prize of the HSZG and the Friends of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is being awarded for the fourth time. Students now have the chance to put the spotlight on the lecturers who have particularly enriched their studies. This award is a very good opportunity to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary commitment and outstanding achievements of their lecturers.

This is not just about an award, but also about highlighting the enormous importance of good university teaching at the HSZG. Our students are the experts when it comes to judging who really makes a difference in their studies. Therefore, it is exclusively in their hands to submit suggestions. It should be noted that each proposal must be supported by a group of at least three students. Students are encouraged to take a moment to reflect on the teachers who have inspired, challenged and supported them.

The award and selection process is based on the Teaching Award Regulations of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The following can be honored

• a) University lecturers, lecturers with a specified function, research assistants with a teaching load, lecturers, tutors, or
• b) groups of lecturers according to letter a) or
• c) lecturers according to letter a) in cooperation with laboratory engineers as a group of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and cooperation partners involved in the implementation of study programs for which the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is responsible.

The Teaching Prize 2024 will be awarded to ONE teacher or ONE group of teachers with above-average commitment and outstanding achievements in teaching.

The proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent, seven-member selection committee. The student members of the selection committee together have a majority of votes.

The relevant selection criteria for the award decision are, for example

• Specificity of the teaching activity/concept with regard to the degree of innovation and/or the implementation of didactic implications,
• Results of student class / course evaluations,
• Degree of qualification acquired in didactics as well as the scope and period of completed university/didactic qualification measures

It is planned to present the teaching award to the prizewinner or the group of lecturers during the university-wide Teaching Day on May 15, 2024.
