Laboratory Engineer Digital Engineering (m/f/d) - Keyword: Engineering -

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering | Application deadline 11.08.2023

At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a position (40 hours/week) is available as of 01.12.2023 as a

 Laboratory Engineer Digital Engineering (m/f/d)

- Keyword: Engineering -

to be filled on a permanent basis.

The laboratory engineer (m/f/d) is primarily responsible for the "CAE Pool" laboratory. The internships carried out there are a key component on the path to professional qualifications for students in the disciplines of mechanical engineering, energy and environmental engineering, green engineering and engineering education.

The CAE pool contains a broad spectrum of special software for a wide range of engineering applications (currently including ANSYS, Fluent, MathCAD, Ebsilon, CFturbo), which are subject to constant change and therefore require constant updating. This makes the CAE pool an essential component of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering's digitalization strategy. The important task of the laboratory engineer here is to keep the software functional and up to date so that it is available for the practical courses in various modules. This requires at least basic knowledge of the application of the program systems mentioned.

Of particular importance are the practical courses in the area of the finite element method. Students are familiarized with the basics and advanced applications of the FEM in various study modules. A strong focus is placed on applications from the fields of mechanics, materials engineering and design through to fracture mechanics. These applications focus on theoretical and scientific issues.

The work includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Preparation, implementation and follow-up of internships,
  • Collaboration in the conception of new practical tasks,
  • Supporting the teaching activities,
  • technical and organizational support of computer infrastructure and software,
  • Administration of the module database,
  • Participation in student internships and student recruitment,
  • Support in the realization of research and development projects.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Very good university degree in the field of mechanical engineering,
  • application-related knowledge of relevant FEM programs (preferably Ansys),
  • didactic skills,
  • application-related knowledge in the fields of general mechanics, continuum mechanics and fracture mechanics,
  • good IT, Office and English skills.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Technical vocational training,
  • project experience,
  • Knowledge of the university's study operations and relevant business processes of the university administration,
  • Experience in working with students.

We expect you to have

  • knowledge of the university's academic operations and relevant business processes of the university administration
  • a structured, pragmatic and independent way of working,
  • a high degree of reliability,
  • ability to work in a team.

We offer you

  • an interesting and challenging field of activity,
  • flexible and family-friendly working hours within the framework of the applicable service agreements,
  • personal and professional development opportunities through targeted training and further education,
  • attractive social benefits (company pension scheme, annual special payment, capital-forming benefits),
  • company health management with offers for workplace health promotion and the opportunity to use a job ticket.
