At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, in the Center for eLearning, a part-time position (30 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as

IT employee for educational technology and accessibility (m/f/d)
- Reference: 01-2025 Zfe -

to be filled on a temporary basis until 31.08.2025.

The aim is to strengthen the transmission, recording and provision of (teaching) events at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences through the use of multimedia elements and to participate in the conception, realization and support of educational technology-supported teaching and learning opportunities. In addition, the development and provision of barrier-free teaching and learning materials will be supported.

The activities of the job holder (m/f) include the following tasks in particular:

  • Participation in the conception, introduction and operation of a central service for the automatic recording and provision of multimedia teaching content (especially lectures),
  • Administration (configuration, installation and operation) of the central media technology systems for event recording and transmission (including conference systems, MediaSite),
  • Supervision of event recordings and transmissions (recording, post-processing, provision and distribution),
  • Consulting, design, procurement and installation of transmission technology (including conference systems),
  • Creation of interfaces to existing learning management systems and applications for the provision of audio and video files (e.g. OPAL and Magma),
  • Error analysis and troubleshooting of existing media technology (recording hardware and software),
  • Participation in the development and testing of new offers for educational technology support for teaching,
  • Collaboration in the planning, modernization and optimization of educational technology systems in coordination with other areas of the university,
  • Supporting the development of accessible documents in the following areas:
    • Teaching and learning materials, activity-based teaching including examinations and examination documents,
    • research reports and scientific publications,
    • Student services and support as well as application and enrollment,
    • administration and communication,
    • Library services,
    • event information,
    • Intranet and internal communication and
  • Creating documentation, advising and instructing users.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed university degree in the field of computer science, business informatics, electrical engineering or comparable knowledge and experience,
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in the areas of operating systems, server and system administration as well as server applications in the environment of a complex IT infrastructure (in particular Linux, Windows, directory services, web services, network, authentication),
  • Experience in programming with at least one universally applicable language,
  • Experience in dealing with learning platforms/learning management systems, in particular OPAL,
  • Sensitivity to data protection and data security issues,
  • good knowledge of the English language

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Experience in the areas of University Administration, structures and IT projects,
  • Interest in new trends and technologies in the field of application in the university.
