First Aid Kit: Scientific Writing

Scientific Writing for Students - A First Aid Kit for your thesis and dissertation.

What student hasn't experienced this? You are approaching the end of the semester or even the end of your studies and are now faced with the challenge of writing a thesis or dissertation. But how do you actually do it? In this workshop, we will provide you with methods that will guide you safely through writing your thesis or dissertation.
And what questions are involved? How do I develop a solid concept and a realistic work plan for my short academic paper or Master's thesis? How do I organize my thoughts in a logical and reader-friendly way? What can I consider when it comes to the actual writing (scientific writing style, comprehensibility, dealing with sources, citing, etc.)?
The workshop will clarify how to find a good topic for your thesis, how to narrow down the topic and how to structure the content of a scientific paper. We will then show you how you can derive a solid work plan and timetable and how this can provide you with orientation during the course of your work.
The second part is about how and where you can collect information for your thesis, how you can analyze it and what you need to bear in mind when conducting your own empirical research.
The final phase is about the actual writing of the thesis. Here you will learn how to structure a text in a good way, what makes a good headline, how to create a common thread and, of course, how to cite correctly.
