The project „Jugend bewegt Region - Region bewegt Jugend“ or „Youth Vision Action“ connects young people from three countries across borders and encourages them to develop visions for the future together. An important part of this is to familiarize them with the region. The students engage in various artistic activities together, including at Future Camp. In March, master's student Annemarie Grünert visited Future Camp for a day. Here she shares her impressions.
The workshop day began with a warm-up in the theater hall of the Großhennersdorf meeting center, which is housed in a half-timbered house typical of the region. In the morning, the participating young people and workshop leaders competed playfully and with full physical effort in terms of their language skills. Polish, Czech and German vocabulary words were assigned to body parts, which had to be understood in a flash and tapped accordingly. In good spirits and with freshly produced adrenaline, the two workshops then began. It was already the sixth day of the Future Camp and some of the young people had settled into camp life so well and were so relaxed that their fellow campers had to wake them up shortly before the workshop began. Half of the camp group attended the performance art workshop, while the other half wrote and rehearsed music together, each under the expert guidance of artists. With the help of two language mediators, they switched back and forth between Czech, German, Polish and English as a matter of course. However, some humorous moments often required no translation at all. I was allowed to take a look at the music workshop and listen to the results of the previous workshop days in the form of a small concert shortly before lunch. I was very impressed by the enthusiasm, creativity and cohesion of the bands. I am grateful that the young people gave me an insight into their creative work, their thoughts and feelings that morning, and I am excited to see what will develop from what they have created. My visit to Großhennersdorf ended with a delicious lunch in the cozy lounge of the meeting center, which had a charming cabin atmosphere.
