Warm-up for the perfect start to the new phase of life

The first weeks of study at the HSZG are in full swing: this makes it easy to avoid potential difficulties in the basic subjects at the beginning of the course.

This year, too, many first-year students were faced with the question of how best to start their studies. Has a lot of time passed since they left school or were some subjects - now necessary for their studies - not necessarily their favorites? Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has had the perfect answer to this for many years with its Come In Weeks. The preparatory courses in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering and chemistry take place from September 9 to 27 and are designed to refresh students' A-level knowledge and bring it up to the required level. In this way, possible difficulties in the basic subjects at the beginning of the course can be easily avoided.

In addition to learning, there are also numerous leisure activities organized by the student council during the Come in weeks. In addition to campus tours, a city rally, a trip to Liberec and a beer cellar tour in Zittau, the program also includes a joint barbecue with the student advisors from "Students advise students" and representatives of the student councils. The Come In Weeks are organized by the "Diversity as Strength" project, which has been making it easier for students to start their studies for many years and supports them with various offers.

As a welcome gift, all course participants receive a pre-course folder for the upcoming three weeks. In addition to the timetables, first-year students will find some helpful materials such as a writing pad, pen and campus maps for the Zittau and Görlitz campuses. At the beginning of the preliminary math course, a buffet with cake, rolls, coffee and various cold drinks awaited the future students again this year. As well as providing refreshments, the "tasty break" also offers the opportunity to talk to other course participants. Tips for a successful start to your studies will be provided by members of the student advisory service.

The new students are also eagerly awaited in Görlitz. Next Monday, September 23, the participants of the preliminary math course there will receive a warm welcome. In addition to the academic input, they will have the opportunity to get to know each other better over a barbecue or on a tour of the Landeskrone.

We, the Diversity as Strength team, would like to take this opportunity to thank all the hard-working helpers and participants who made such a smooth start to the study entry weeks possible.

We wish all pre-course participants a pleasant come-in week and a successful start to their studies!
