For the third time, the university is awarding its own teaching prize to emphasize the value of teaching.
This is intended to recognize the above-average commitment and outstanding achievements in teaching at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Furthermore, the special importance of university teaching is made visible and an incentive is created for lecturers at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to continuously develop their teaching. Thus, the awarding of the teaching prize promotes the improvement of the quality of teaching and is an important instrument in the quality management of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The following can be honored
a) university lecturers, teaching staff for special tasks, research assistants, lecturers, tutors or
b) groups of lecturers according to letter a) or
c) lecturers according to letter a) in cooperation with laboratory engineers as a group
of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and cooperation partners involved in the implementation of study programs for which the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is responsible. As a rule, the prize is only awarded to one person or group.
The prize is endowed as a cash prize of € 1,000 as a one-off payment. Acceptance of the prize by the prizewinner is not linked to any consideration. The prizewinner is free to dispose of the prize money as they wish. If applicable, tax obligations must be observed.
Individual lecturers or groups of lecturers with above-average commitment and outstanding achievements in teaching can be nominated for the teaching award. The faculties and central institutions are entitled to nominate candidates in consultation with the student councils of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. For cooperation partners involved in study programs, the management/leadership in conjunction with the cooperating faculty is entitled to nominate candidates.
Following a decision by the faculty council or the central institution, the dean or head must submit at least the following documents in writing to the Rector (Secretariat, Ms. Dellf) by 17.01.2020 .
Documents that are not complete and/or not submitted on time will not be considered in the selection process.
The candidate's special commitment and personality should also be taken into account in the overall assessment of the candidate. The following criteria can take this context into account:
The chairperson of the selection committee forwards the selection committee's recommendation to the Rectorate and the Friends of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The Rectorate and the Sponsors' Association may submit their vote in writing within one month of receiving the proposal.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will issue a certificate to the award winner. The chairperson of the selection committee will present the teaching award during the graduation ceremony in April 2020.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will promote the reputation of the prize and the prizewinner in an appropriate manner and in consultation with the prizewinner, in particular by announcing it in the university's internal and regional media.
