Together with the Saxon university network, a joint project will tackle the challenges of digital university teaching in the future.
Together with other Saxon universities and the BA Sachsen, our university has been awarded the first call for funding from the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education. In the joint project "Implementing digitalization in disciplines in a participatory manner: Competencies Connected (D2C2)", innovations in digital teaching and their participatory implementation are being promoted: The project addresses four central challenges of digital university teaching for the coming years:
In order to realize the digitalization of teaching and learning in the disciplines, the approaches Students as Partners and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning are used consistently and comprehensively. The overall coordination lies with the Saxon University Didactics Center (HDS). The vice-rectors of the HDS management form the steering committee. The Scientific Advisory Board of the HDS and the E-Learning Working Group of the Saxony Rectors' Conference form the project advisory board.
The project will run for 36 months and is expected to be funded with a total of around 5 million euros.
In addition to the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, other participants in the joint project are TU Dresden, Leipzig University, TU Chemnitz, HTWK Leipzig, HTW Dresden, Hochschule Mittweida, Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau, Hochschule für bildende Künste, ehs Dresden and BA Sachsen. "The joint project is an opportunity to make the most of the digitalization push in university teaching accelerated by the pandemic for the time after Corona. For example, digitization offers opportunities for national and international cross-university teaching cooperation and can increase the flexibility of studies," emphasizes Professor Keil, Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs at the HSZG, and continues: "The project should help to exploit the advantages of digitization in teaching and create an optimal balance with face-to-face teaching. I would like to thank everyone involved for the participative and constructive collaboration and look forward to the joint project."
The Saxon University Didactics Center is a joint central institution of Saxon universities and is financed by the participating universities and the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism. It offers teachers certified didactic training and promotes teaching-related university development in Saxony. Further information can be found at www.hd-sachsen.de.
