... and then I stayed! At two virtual university information evenings on May 18 and 20, prospective students will find out why studying at the HSZG is worthwhile.
Victoria Hohlfeld is used to cameras. The student, who supports the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in its public relations work, has already conducted interviews for numerous university information videos and was part of the moderation team for the virtual live broadcast for the university information day last January.
Now she is preparing for the next challenge.
"You can find out twice as much about studying at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, as there will be two virtual university information evenings live on YouTube from 5 p.m. on May 18 and 20," says Victoria.
The presenter is supported by Verena and Chris, who are still at the very beginning of their studies and academic careers. "I actually wanted to leave the region and then decided to study at the HSCG after all," explains Verena. On Tuesday, May 18, the first-year student will explain in the live broadcast what ultimately convinced her and what the Culture and Management degree program has to do with it. This is because the cultural studies, social sciences and economics courses will be the focus of the show.
"Chris will be taking a seat on the guest sofa on Thursday on behalf of all those interested in engineering and science courses," says Victoria Hohlfeld. Whether natural and environmental sciences, mechanical engineering, computer science or electrical engineering. The live stream on 20 May will focus on degree courses in these subject areas. "There's something for everyone who is planning their future career in the STEM sector," says the presenter with confidence. A-level student Chris is planning to study Applied Natural Sciences at the HSZG at and can well imagine asking exactly the questions that interest first-year students.
Who will answer these questions? "Contact persons from the respective degree programs, representatives of the university management and administration as well as other guests are available for this purpose, who, due to the current situation, are mainly connected virtually," explains Victoria Hohlfeld.
All questions from prospective students are answered ad hoc in the YouTube live chat and in separate virtual consultation rooms. The moderator knows what is important:
"How can I enroll? What careers can I pursue later if I choose this degree course? It is very important to us that we can answer all these questions on these evenings."
During their studies at the HSZG, students receive support in every situation. Whether they are looking for social or professional help, have to meet special requirements or want to know how they can spend a semester abroad or continue their education. Both information events offer answers. "Of course, campus life is not neglected," smiles the presenter.
And there is an innovation. This time, the HSZG will be broadcasting live on both days from Celsiuz, one of the university's transfer laboratories. The premises behind the old brick walls of the former textile factory in Zittau are home to the "Co-Creation Lab for Supply Infrastructure" of Saxony5, a transfer network of Saxony's five universities of applied sciences. This is where bright minds from science and business usually meet to exchange ideas and work together on creative projects, supported by state-of-the-art simulation technology. "So it's the perfect venue for two exciting university information evenings," says Victoria Hohlfeld.
