The West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau organized a virtual international conference on the topic Fachlich - DIGITAL - Regional: Teaching and learning German as a business language from October 8th to 9th.
Topics from the fields of multilingualism in the German-Czech-Polish border region, foreign language didactics, language teaching of work-related language skills, efficient resource allocation in service learning, project-oriented teaching methods were the occasion for an intensive exchange between academics from all over Germany (including Münster, Göttingen, Berlin, Jena, Zwickau, Görlitz), the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Russia and Poland.
The Faculty of Management and Cultural Studies at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was represented by Prof. Dr. phil. Małgorzata Maćkowiak, who presented the topic: Specialized language and translation didactics at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Paths and detours of market-oriented education presented her idea of transforming and modernizing the existing degree course in Business and Language. The currently designed International Business Communication degree programme is the result of an extraordinarily efficient, synergetic collaboration between our university's experts from the fields of business, communication, digitalization and the humanities. At the same time, it is an expression of the extraordinary commitment of our academics to both the regional anchoring of the university in the border triangle and its international opening to the European markets.
