The leisure and tourism industry is growing continuously and with it the demand for qualified specialists. The Bachelor's degree course in Tourism Management at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will qualify you for a variety of exciting careers in this dynamic industry. The course combines business management know-how with tourism-specific specialist knowledge and intercultural skills.

Versatile qualification for the tourism industry

This practical degree program provides you with comprehensive skills in the following areas:

  • Business fundamentals such as accounting, finance and management
  • Tourism-specific knowledge in destination management and tourism economics
  • Digital skills through e-marketing and digitalization technologies
  • Intercultural skills and foreign languages (English as well as Spanish, Italian or Polish)
  • Methodological and personal skills for project management and teamwork

A special highlight is the international internship in the fourth semester, which gives you valuable international experience. From the fifth semester onwards, you can set individual priorities and specialize in areas such as tour operator management, hotel management or event management. Studying in the border triangle of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic also offers you daily intercultural experience.

Course of study

Your degree course is optimally structured to gradually develop you into a tourism and leisure expert. In the first three semesters, you will acquire a solid grounding in general business subjects such as business mathematics, accounting and investment and finance. At the same time, you will immerse yourself in tourism-specific topics, from destination management to leisure sciences and tourism marketing.

Language training is an important part of your studies: In addition to English, you will learn a second foreign language - either Spanish, Italian or Polish. In the fourth semester, you will complete a 15-week internship, preferably abroad, and expand your knowledge of leisure trends and forecasts. This practical phase offers you the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge and gain valuable professional experience.

In the fifth and sixth semesters, you will deepen your knowledge through elective modules and specific specialist courses. You can choose between various specializations, for example in the Management of the Tourism Industry field of expertise and the Tourism Science field of expertise. Your Bachelor thesis in the sixth semester rounds off your studies.
