ZukLOS - Promoting young talent in MINT

ZukLOS is the modern educational initiative of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to promote young talent in the STEM subjects, internationally known as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

Here, children, teenagers and young adults discover the world of technology and science in a practical way. In experiments at new learning locations, in creative workshops and in digital formats, they experience how exciting STEM can be. The aim is to awaken enthusiasm for science and technology at an early age and pave the way for a sustainable and innovative future.

The children of today are the talents of tomorrow. The Zukunftslernort makes technology and science tangible for them and thus creates the basis for a strong region.

Junior Academy Zittau - DLR_School_Lab of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences
The Junior Academy Zittau is an extracurricular learning facility that the HSZG has set up together with the German Aerospace Center (DLR). In the new DLR_School_Lab at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, children and young people can experience technology and science in a practical way. Whether energy, materials or the environment - in experiments and projects, they discover current research, develop their own ideas and become little researchers themselves. In this way, the Junior Academy arouses curiosity about science and technology and strengthens young talent in the region at an early stage.

Experimentierhaus Görlitz - Experience the future, apply knowledge
With the Experimentierhaus Görlitz, the HSZG creates extracurricular places of learning that inspire children and young people from year 5 onwards for science and technology. From biodiversity to robotics, educational offers are created that combine research, schools and companies. The first location on the Görlitz campus is testing new teaching and learning concepts and linking practical experimentation with current research. In future, the locations are to be combined to form an education center. Partners such as the DZA, CASUS and the Senckenberg Society will expand the topics and turn the experimental house into a lively place where science can be experienced.

Mobile learning locations - Science on Wheels
With the Mobile Lab, the HSZG brings modern technology directly to where young people are. The Airstream trailer contains a complete makerspace with 3D printers, laser cutters, robotics, drones and digital learning stations. Whether at schools, camps or on campus - science becomes an experience here. Young people from Year 8 upwards, trainees and students can develop their own ideas, design products and try out future technologies. In this way, the university encourages curiosity, creativity and practical skills and makes education flexible, visible and tangible.

Campus 4 You - Learning brought to life
Campus 4 You is a place of learning and experience at the HSZG that makes knowledge tangible. Open spaces invite you to work together, the Green Classroom combines nature and technology, and the Makerspace offers space for creative projects. Young people can program safe railroad operations in the electronic interlocking laboratory, while the wind PV tree makes renewable energies tangible. Schools were closely involved in the planning right from the start so that the offers are specifically tailored to the needs of young people. Campus 4 You creates meeting spaces for schoolchildren, students and the general public and brings education, sustainability and technology to life in a lively way.
