Systemic Continuing Education Program Launched

On March 7, the 14th introductory course, “Systemic Work in Child and Youth Welfare—Educational Assistance, ” began at the Görlitz University Campus. Over the course of three-quarters of a year, 14 participants from all over Saxony and southern Brandenburg will complete the 150 in-person sessions as well as additional self-organized intervision and self-study components.

The course focuses on teaching systemic thinking and practicing systemic methods in the context of “Educational Assistance.” The instructors provide ongoing guidance on implementing a systemic, appreciative approach in professional practice.

The Institute for Systemic Work (ISA) in Chemnitz is responsible for the program’s content. Led by Matthias and Rita Freitag, this institute has been collaborating with the university for 10 years now and plays a key role in the reputation of this part-time systemic continuing education program.

This introductory course is followed by the advanced course “Systemic Consultant, ” which concludes with a professional certification from the German Society for Systemic Pedagogy. Graduates then have the opportunity to specialize their systemic professional competencies in additional advanced courses. The options include:

• “Trauma Pedagogy”
• "Systemic Supervision and Coaching"
• "Systemic Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Therapy, and Counseling"

For those interested from early childhood education institutions, the two-year course will begin for the first time in August. This course concludes with the certificate “Systemic Educator.”
