The teacher training project "Developing inclusive schools together" is entering its third phase.
The ZINT project ("Developing integrative/inclusive schools together") is entering its third phase from March 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018. The third-party funded project was conceived by the Saxon State Ministry of Culture (SMK) in cooperation with the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. It is led by the Institute for Education, Information and Communication (BIK) at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and is evaluated and monitored by the University of Leipzig's Institute for Special Needs Education with regard to teacher training and further education.
The current ZINT project is funded by the SMK with almost 730,000 euros. A consultant from the SMK, Regierungsschulirektorin Dr. Petra Koinzer, supports the extended work in the ZINT project at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Together with the substitute professor Dr. Susanne Römer from the curative education/inclusion studies course, both will be responsible for the content and scientific management of the ZINT project. In future, two members of staff will take on the coordinating tasks within a full-time position.
Since 2008, around 400 teachers have been qualified in the previous qualification measure for teachers at Saxony's schools, the "Certificate Course for Inclusive Teaching". The aim of the ZINT project remains to train one teacher for integrative/inclusive teaching and school development for every school in Saxony (approx. 1,200 in total) and to strengthen them for their future tasks in an inclusive school.
After the ZINT course, the teachers' experience and skills are used in different ways in the schools. In addition to the ZINT course, the ZINT project offers them in-depth training (ZINT training), annual conferences (ZINT conference) and the opportunity for professionally supported regional networking (ZINT network) for their work as multipliers for inclusion.
