Tourism Management students go on an excursion to Vietnam and report on Instagram.
The nine students on the Master's degree program in International Tourism Management are going on a big trip. From March 29 to April 10, the students of Wtm17 will fly to Vietnam for an excursion together with Prof. Ute Pflicke and Ms. Solvig Langschwager.
As part of the Future Workshop module, compulsory excursions are organized in the 2nd semester of the Master's degree course. These excursions have been taking place since 2013. The first excursion went to the Czech and Polish Giant Mountains, in 2014 to Georgia, in 2015 to Montenegro, the following year to Estonia and last year to Albania. In 2018, the destination is Hanoi, Vietnam. All excursions are united by one vision: to promote cooperation in tourism.
The aim of the excursion for the students is to develop a concept for sustainable tourism development for the location or region. The students train the ability to design a complex tourism development project, especially under transformation conditions, in such detail that a solid presentation, subsequent discussion and acceptance on site is guaranteed.
This year, the students are also given a specific task. They will visit existing project regions in the north of Vietnam, such as Sa Pa, a town in the Hoàng Liên Son mountains in the northwest of Vietnam. And meet with students from Thanh Hoa University. On the topic of destination development - sustainable development of rural areas using the example of community base tourism, the students are developing a concept for long-term cooperation with the universities in Hanoi, Da Lat and Thanh Hoa.
The two students Mira Nausner and Marius Klaus are taking over the HSZG's Instagram account for the duration of the excursion. Under the hashtag #hszgontour, they will report live from Vietnam and take all those who stayed here with them, at least virtually, into the sun.
