Following the 2014 event, the 2017 Teaching Day once again takes up the topic of quality development in academic studies and teaching. While participants in the 2014 Teaching Day focused on the fundamental question of what constitutes good teaching, this year’s Teaching Day centers on the university-specific system for quality development currently under development and the preparations for its accreditation. Successful system accreditation will enable our university to regularly evaluate and further develop its degree programmes through its own internal process, rather than relying on various external agencies.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, starting at 2:15 p.m., we cordially invite you to Teaching Day! The theme of this year’s university-wide event is “On the Path to System Accreditation.”
This is a topic of university-wide relevance: For more than ten years, independent agencies have been conducting accreditation of our university’s degree programmes. This practice is soon to be replaced by accreditation of the university-wide Quality management system, which is currently being established.
- What does “system accreditation” entail?
- Where does our university stand in this process of change?
- What still needs to be done?
- What are the motivations behind this new direction? Which areas of the university are primarily affected?
A first: For the first time, the procedure for evaluating our degree programmes (concept stage)—which was developed over the past few months by an internal university working group and will replace the agencies’ previous program accreditation—will be presented to the university community.
A New Format: This year, you can follow this event simultaneously at both university campuses. With the support of the Zfe, presentations and remarks will be broadcast between the Görlitz and Zittau campuses. If possible, we ask that you attend the event in person at the Görlitz campus.
