Publication by Prof. Dr. Dr. Clemens Renker on the consequences of the financial market crisis for German credit institutions.
With the onset of the financial market crisis nine years ago, the increasing digitalization of the economy and the historically first phase of 0% interest rates, the research question arose:
How does this affect the economic results and contingent liabilities of savings banks, cooperative banks and private banks directly and possibly in the near future? And are credit institutions affected in their existence?
On the basis of his article "Zur externen Analyse der bankbetrieblichen Erfolgsstruktur" published a long time ago in the "Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung - zfbf" and subsequent analyses of the annual financial statements of six credit institutions in 2014/15, Clemens Renker came to the conclusion that, based on the premises found, the existence of around half of German credit institutions could be at risk from 2020.
The internationally renowned specialist publisher SpringerGabler will now publish Clemens Renker's findings in a small book. For two years, Renker has identified ten key challenges for credit institutions based on evidence and supported by analyses from the Bundesbank and BaFin as well as statements from their directors, presented the potential consequences in figures up to 2020 and outlined a methodical approach for setting up new business models.
