The continuing education opportunities at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences are as diverse as they are exciting and forward-looking. Whether taken alongside work or studies, these include university-level teaching programs tailored to the needs of educators, as well as continuing education offerings aimed at specific professional or entrepreneurial groups. Courses tailored to specific target groups and industries, leading to certificate completion, ensure individualized skill development and thus play a significant role in career planning.
A wide variety of courses are once again available in spring 2018, and interested individuals can still enroll.
Continuing Education While Working or Studying
Continuing education programs that can be taken alongside work and courses that complement academic studies, both leading to certificates, are offered in varying durations and for different industries.
One such course is “Health Management: Methods of Good Self-Care—Practical Course.”
This introductory course is primarily aimed at professional groups exposed to significant psychological or social stress. It focuses on the topic of self-care. To help employees remain healthy and productive, employers can contribute by creating suitable working conditions. Ultimately, however, each individual is responsible for their own well-being and for nurturing it. This continuing education course covers exactly what steps one can take to achieve this, the methods available for maintaining one’s own work capacity, and how to empower others to practice good self-care.
The course begins on April 27, 2018. A maximum of 14 spots are available.

Management Systems for Specialists and Managers—The IMS Seminar Series for Companies
The IMS seminar series is designed for professionals and managers in companies. It is a joint training program offered by Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences, and TÜV Rheinland Akademie GmbH. A total of six seminar sessions are offered over the course of one year (beginning in August).
Depending on customer requirements, legal regulations, or internal company objectives, topics related to quality, environmental, occupational safety, IT security, or energy management systems are covered. Using interactive teaching methods, the training team guides participants in applying the knowledge they have gained to address specific tasks and case studies from their own companies. The goal is to develop concrete results and solutions.
The next course in the IMS seminar series, titled “Life Cycle Analysis—Requirements and Implementation,” will take place on February 27, 2018, and is primarily aimed at environmental management representatives. You can register online here.
Continuing Education in Higher Education Pedagogy
The next HSD course will take place on February 2, 2018. Under the theme “Humor as a Resource for Higher Education Teaching,” the seminar will explore how humor is increasingly recognized and utilized in the field of education as an important tool for shaping intra- and interpersonal processes.
This one-day training course is eligible for credit in the Saxon HDS certificate program, Module 2: “Teaching and Learning.” Online registration is available available .
The offerings of the Children’s Academy and the Senior College also fall under the category of lifelong learning. Scientists from various disciplines introduce children ages 8 to 12 to the exciting world of science. Scientific lectures, discussion groups, seminars, and field trips are the focus of the Senior College, which is aimed at interested older residents of the district.
