Art project "The Art of Inclusion"

On March 18 and 19, special education/inclusion studies students got creative under the guidance of autistic Gee Vero.

On March 18 and 19, 2017, the art project "The Art of Inclusion" with Ms. Gee Vero took place at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences as part of the curative education/inclusion studies course. On Friday, Gee Vero talked about her life as an autistic person. She gave an insight into her world with her (own) perception. On Saturday, things got creative. She challenged the students to become creative themselves - without paying attention to the perception of others. She started the project "The Art of Inclusion" 6 years ago.Find out more at here. The results of the weekend are on display in the foyer of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in G1.

However, the project continues for all interested parties: anyone can still take a sheet of paper in the foyer and add to it. The only important thing here is that everyone is true to themselves. There is no right or wrong - everyone should be authentic. Ms. Vero's  encouraging statement: "What someone says about my picture says nothing about me or my picture, but only something about the viewer".

Ms. Vero would like feedback on the question of whether it is possible to study as an autistic person at Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. What support and barriers are there from the perspective of students, lecturers and the administration. Please send concrete suggestions to  Ms. Dr. Römer at s.roemer(at)hszg.de. She will forward the considerations to Ms. Vero.
