Accompanying children in an appreciative manner

Systemic further training for nursery teachers at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences from August

At the fictitious Kunterbunt daycare center, teacher Simone Haupt acts as a mediator and comforter on a daily basis. "Many children bring family worries, insecurities or imbalances to the daycare center and then I am particularly challenged to react appropriately and give them support and attention," says the equally fictitious educator. This fictitious example illustrates the emotional stress  that nursery teachers are exposed to in their demanding work. However, in addition to this perception of the needs of individual children, there are other  demands. Educators are responsible for

  • the implementation of the education plan
  • Inclusive concepts
  • the integration of children from refugee families/with a migration background
  • language support and dealing with multilingualism
  • pedagogical work under adverse framework conditions (staffing ratios, premises, extended opening hours, remuneration, etc.)

Systemic therapist, teaching therapist and supervisor Rita Freitag explored the questions of whether and how nursery teachers can meet these requirements when designing a new training course for nursery teachers. "Specialists in daycare centers and after-school care facilities need sources of energy and forms of moderated professional and methodical exchange. This is why the new in-service training course 'Systemic work in nurseries, daycare centers and after-school care' will be offered at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences from August 2016." The lecturers support the participants in analyzing and managing their daily work and train new methods for holistic  childcare and cooperation with parents and families. Both psychological-neurological findings and concrete methods of constellation and counseling work are used.

Participants can expect a mixture of methodology, self-awareness and supervision. The course lasts two years and takes place on a part-time basis at . At the end of the course, students receive the university certificate "Systemic Counsellor, Systemic Educator", which is recognized by the Federal Association DGsP.
