HSZG - ImageSOOC
Saxon universities present themselves in interactive online courses. The HSZG is taking part this week!
The six-week free online course “ImageSOOC” (Saxon Open Online Course), in which—similar to a rotating lecture series—a Saxon university introduces itself each week of the course, has begun.
The following six Saxon universities will introduce themselves during the course weeks:
Starting Nov. 7, 2016: TU Bergakademie Freiberg
Starting November 14, 2016: Mittweida University of Applied Sciences
Starting November 21, 2016: Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences
Starting November 28, 2016: TU Dresden
Starting December 5, 2016: HTW Dresden
Starting December 12, 2016: EHS Dresden
Those interested can register at: www.imagesooc.de
“Over the course of the program, we’ll showcase the degree programs available at the individual universities in Saxony, how daily campus life is organized, and what student life is like at each location,” says Marlen Dubrau, the program’s organizer. “The online format familiarizes high school graduates and anyone interested in higher education with the academic offerings and daily student life at each university, provides sample assignments which reflect the requirements of the degree programs, and enables participants to connect with currently enrolled students and graduates,” she explains. Over a period of six weeks, course participants develop a general understanding of the degree programs and requirements at Saxon universities. The learning materials include, for example, lecture recordings and live chats with students, as well as interviews with graduates and self-assessments.
The primary focus of the course is to ensure that participants can assess, after completing the course, whether the university and the degree programs presented are of interest to them and whether their own skill set meets the requirements for applying to the relevant Saxon university. The target group is thus actively supported in navigating the wide range of options and offerings available when choosing a program of study. No prior knowledge is required for participation. It is also possible to participate in the course at a later date, as participants decide for themselves which content they would like to work through, when, where, and to what extent.
Project Background:
The “ImageSOOC” project is part of the SMWK-funded collaborative project “Videocampus
Saxony,” which is funded by the SMWK, coordinated by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and aims to establish a
Saxony-wide video portal for universities.
Following a successful pilot phase, the ImageSOOC format will be gradually expanded to meet the needs of
prospective students interested in studying in Saxony.
