German sign language can be learned at the HSZG in Görlitz from October.
Hearing-impaired people need the support of sign language-competent staff in many areas, e.g. education, care, public institutions, everyday situations. German Sign Language (DGS) is an independent language with its own grammar and a specific lexicon.
The additional qualification in German Sign Language makes it possible to learn a fascinating language while working or studying and to gain new perspectives on language. Training in German Sign Language (basic level) takes place in accordance with the valid framework curriculum.
No previous knowledge is required. An environment that enables you to use DGS is desirable.
Basic level lessons 1 to 10 (200 teaching units):
The course ends with a final examination. Graduates receive the certificate "Additional qualification in German Sign Language". On completion of the basic level language course, participants have acquired good communication skills in DGS. The language requirements for taking up a further advanced course or a degree course in sign language are fulfilled

Dates:
From 05.10.2016 to 28.06.2017, Wednesdays 5.00 pm - 8.15 pm (30 weeks of 4 lessons each = 120 lessons)
plus 4 block courses Fri-Sat 9.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. (4 dates of 20 units each = 80 units)
The dates of the block courses will be discussed with the participants during the course. There are no events during the semester break.
