The vice-rectors for education and for academic affairs and teaching, as well as staff members from the quality management departments of the five Saxon universities of applied sciences (HAW) met on November 27, 2015, in the newly renovated section of Building Z I in Zittau. After Prof. Heidger, Vice President for Education and International Affairs, welcomed the guests from West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, HTW Dresden, and HTWK Leipzig, the group initially split into two parallel sessions.
The vice rectors, for their part, exchanged views on current topics related to teaching and quality management. The workshop for quality management staff focused on a mutual exchange regarding the use of information technologies in the context of process documentation and document management. In this context, the participating universities formulated minimum requirements for IT-supported process and document management. As part of this, the QM team at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences presented the prototype of its university-specific portal, which will be accessible to staff via the intranet starting early next year and will provide a wide range of information in a centralized format. Since 2014, the QM network has been meeting regularly for workshops on various QM-specific topics, alternating between the campuses of the participating universities. Those present also coordinated their plans for the next steps. The next workshop will take place in early February in Zwickau. This meeting will focus on continuous improvement processes.
