Dr. Carsten Rensinghoff showed what it is like to live with a disability during a lecture at the Children's Academy.
Rector Professor Dr. Friedrich Albrecht and Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Christa Heidger thanked Dr. Carsten Rensinghoff from Witten an der Ruhr for his active support of the Children's Academy at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences with a certificate. In his presentation, the children learned about the lives of people with disabilities. The speaker's own physical disability is an excellent example of this. The now 48-year-old suffered a serious brain injury at the age of 12 after being hit by a car while roller skating.
The children were also able to experience disability for themselves. Dr. Rensinghoff presented optical illusions, for example. In the jumbled letters of a word, the children could only recognize the correct word because the first and last letters of the respective word were correct.
Author and lecturer Dr. Carsten Rensinghoff will be teaching at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Studium fundamentale in the winter semester 2017/2018. "Experiencing disability" will be the topic of his course for students from all faculties at Studium fundamentale . Anyone interested in his course can find out more about the content and dates at 6.10.2017 at the Market of Opportunities at Stufu (10 - 11 a.m., GI/1.01).
