Vocational Training at HSZG

At the start of the 2017–2018 academic year, five young people began their training at HSZG. Under the guidance of Ms. Petra Schmidt, their instructor, Ms. Lena Laßahn and Mr. Tommy Lösche are working toward a degree in office management. The three young men—Simon Reinhardt, Paul Rohleder, and Saroj Dhakal (from Nepal)—have chosen technical careers and are being mentored by instructor Andreas Israel. What makes this program unique is that the two-and-a-half-year apprenticeship as an electronics technician for devices and systems takes place as part of a cooperative study program with integrated training (KIA).

“For many years, the HSZG has been giving young people the opportunity to pursue vocational training; in this way, we are fulfilling our social responsibility to give young people in the region the chance to start their careers,” said Christoph Duscha, Head of the division of Human Resources Administration & Law (first from the right in the photo).

Ms. Backasch (second from the right in the photo) has been with our university since May 1, 2017, and as a member of the Human Resources Development team, her primary focus is on vocational training. This includes not only continuing education and professional development but also apprenticeship programs.
