Particularly attractive: the mechatronics specialization can be completed as a double-degree program in cooperation with a Czech university. The English-language third semester also offers you the opportunity to spend a semester abroad.

Course content

The Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics combines research-based learning with practice-oriented project work. The course is divided into four semesters and follows a clear structure that gives you increasing scope to set your own priorities.

In the first semester, you will delve into different subject areas depending on your chosen specialization. The mechatronics specialization covers topics such as pattern recognition, machine learning, advanced control engineering and building automation. In the smart grids and installations specialization, you will deal with renewable energies, grid control systems, smart grids and energy technology. The second semester is dedicated to a research project, which you will carry out under professional supervision, supplemented by elective modules according to your interests. The third semester is taught entirely in English and prepares you for the international working world. You can choose to complete it at a partner university abroad. The fourth semester is dedicated to your Master's thesis, in which you work independently on a challenging research or development project.

Professional areas where you can get started

Research & Development

You work on innovative technical solutions in research departments or institutes. You design and test new technologies, analyze data and use your expertise to contribute to the further development of electrical engineering systems and components.

Project management

You coordinate complex technical projects from conception to implementation. You plan resources, lead interdisciplinary teams and ensure that demanding electrical engineering projects are completed on time and to a high standard of quality.

Intelligent energy systems

You optimize the integration of renewable energies into existing grid structures. You will develop control concepts for smart grids, analyze load flows and design future-proof solutions for a sustainable energy supply.

Automation technology

You will develop systems for the automation of industrial processes and intelligent buildings. You will program control systems, implement control concepts and integrate sensors and actuators to create efficient, self-regulating overall systems.

Technical sales

You advise customers on complex electrical engineering products and systems. You analyze their requirements, create tailor-made solution concepts and mediate between technical possibilities and economic framework conditions.

Production optimization

You improve manufacturing processes through innovative electrical engineering and mechatronics solutions. You identify optimization potential, implement automation solutions and thus increase efficiency and quality in industrial production.

Admission requirements

A completed, relevant Bachelor's degree (e.g. mechatronics, electrical engineering) with 180 or 210 ECTS or a Diplom degree in engineering with 240 ECTS.
