Course content

The Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is designed for three semesters and systematically leads you to in-depth expertise in your chosen specialization. The course structure combines common foundation modules with specialized in-depth content and offers you scope for individual specialization through compulsory elective modules.

In the first semester, you will acquire in-depth knowledge in areas such as project management, advanced engineering mathematics and computer-aided product optimization. In the lightweight construction and engineering design specialization, you will deal with continuum mechanics and structural dynamics, while the sustainable production technologies specialization covers topics such as plastics processing and industrial robotics. The second semester expands your knowledge with modules on component safety and mechatronics. The focus-specific content ranges from lightweight construction and composite materials to bioeconomy and sustainable plastics. Compulsory elective modules such as bionics or manufacturing systems allow you to specialize further. You will devote the third semester entirely to your Master's thesis, in which you will work independently on a challenging engineering topic.
