On March 6, the 1st integration fair of the district of Görlitz took place in the Löbauer exhibition hall.
Under the motto "Living and arriving in the district of Görlitz", the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was one of over 60 exhibitors at the 1st integration fair in the district of Görlitz.
New immigrants and/or volunteers and full-time employees from the field of migration were able to obtain information on the topics of leisure & clubs, offices & authorities, work & career, living & housing and education and network with representatives from these areas.
The Studies and International Affairs division provided information on study opportunities at our university in the area of education and advised a large number of prospective students, including those from Poland, Syria and Iran, on admission requirements and the application process for foreign applicants.
The Institute for Transformation, Housing and Social Spatial Development (TRAWOS) also took part in the trade fair with an information stand on the institute's project Religionssensible Integrationskultur in Ostsachsen - Erkundung, Erprobung, Gestaltung ("Religion as an integration resource?"), which is funded by the Free State of Saxony as part of the state's Integrative Measures program. In addition to numerous networking discussions with other stakeholders at the trade fair, interested parties were able to pick up recommended reading on the topics of religion, migration and integration.
In addition to the information stands, there was a very interesting supporting program at the fair, in which, among other things, the integration concept of the district of Görlitz and the MiMi project (with migrants for migrants) were presented.
All in all, the integration fair was a very successful event, which was attended by an exceptionally large number of new immigrants to the district.
A repeat of the fair seems conceivable. The district of Görlitz is currently reviewing the feedback forms from exhibitors and guests at the integration fair.
The MiMi project will soon be a guest at the university and offer a workshop for international students on the topic of "The healthcare system explained in the mother tongue".
