Young voices for a common future

Project "Youth Vision Action" - Report on Future Production I

As part of Future Production II, which was organized by the JuBReg project "Jugend bewegt Region - Region bewegt Jugend" from 15 to 18 May 2025, students from the B.A. Culture & Management and the B.A. Social Work at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences met with pupils from Poland and the Czech Republic in Großhennersdorf. The aim was to get to know each other, learn together and develop perspectives for the future in the border triangle. A workshop entitled "Can we learn anything from history - and if so, what?" at the Großhennersdorf Environmental Library focused on the importance of historical experiences. The main focus was on the energy policy of the GDR, its impact on Lusatia and today's structural change. The participants looked at original documents and gained in-depth insights from contemporary witness Andreas Schönfelder and the film "The Pain of Lusatia" by Peter Rocha. In addition to the professional input, cultural exchange was also an important component: lively discussions, new contacts and ideas for future projects emerged in a relaxed atmosphere. A shared meal, creative games to get to know each other and discussions on topics such as mobility, safety, women's rights and participation made the workshop a special experience for everyone.

The participants took a lot away with them:

  • Historical knowledge as the key to the future
  • Structural change needs remembrance and participation
  • The region has potential - if young people get involved

Future Production II impressively demonstrated that encounters, history and design belong together - especially in a region where borders are no longer barriers, but opportunities for cooperation and joint learning.
