The funding landscape

From the initial idea to the submitted application: we support you in acquiring third-party funding. Whether regional funding (Saxony), federal programs (BMBF) or EU projects - we will help you find the right program and overcome the formal hurdles.

  • Structural Funds & Saxony (ERDF/ESF)

    Funding from the Free State and the EU Take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Structural Funds for your research:

    • ERDF: European Regional Development Fund (Investment & Innovation)
    • ESF Plus: European Social Fund (personnel & young talent)
    • Preliminary research: Special funding for HAWs in Saxony
  • Federal government & ministries (BMBF/AiF)

    Nationwide funding programs

    Calls for proposals from the federal ministries and project management agencies:

    • BMBF: Research at universities of applied sciences (specific rounds)
    • ZIM / AiF: Innovation funding for SMEs (cooperation projects)
  • Requirements (Gender Equality Plan)

    Important for EU applications:

    Gender Equality Plan A Gender Equality Plan is mandatory for many EU funding programs (e.g. Horizon Europe). In 2023, the HSCG Rectorate adopted a voluntary commitment to equal opportunities, which fulfills this requirement for all HSCG researchers.

The Research Data Management FDM

Open Access (Publication)

Our research compass

The Research Compass can be accessed via the internal university information system (HIP) (login required) and is primarily aimed at newly appointed professors and academics who are at the beginning of their academic career as well as employees whose tasks include advising and supervising research and externally funded projects.

The Research Compass

  • provides information on the most important central support structures and responsibilities at the HSCG that are available for research and development projects,
  • provides an initial overview of the diverse research funding landscape,
  • structures the administration of the research process - from the development of a project idea to the degree of a third-party funded research or development project,
  • provides an overview of internal research funding opportunities .
