As part of the project "LONAVE - Lotsen, Navigieren und Vernetzen, Analyse und Weiterentwicklung von Gelingensbedingungen für Bildung und nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) in Schulen im ländlichen Raum", funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Culture, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, is looking to fill a position (24 hours/week) as of the earliest possible date, subject to the provision of funds.

to be filled for a limited period until 31.12.2026.

The LONAVE - Guiding, Navigating and Networking project aims to analyze and further develop the conditions for successful education and sustainable development (ESD) in schools in rural areas of Saxony. Based on previous findings with support programs (ESD pilot program), the focus is on the investigation of successful intervention measures, indicators and the understanding of education for sustainable development.
The aim is the further scientific development of ESD in rural areas. The focus is on conducting three qualitative case studies at different schools in rural areas of Saxony with expert interviews and group discussions. The focus will be on the findings of the pilot program as well as on innovative approaches, adequate indicators of a long-term increased visibility and effectiveness of ESD in rural areas.

The work includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Organization, implementation and evaluation of two qualitative workshops with the state coordination office with a focus on reflecting on previous experiences as well as an extensive document analysis and literature research,
  • Organization, implementation and evaluation of three qualitative case studies (expert interviews, egocentric qualitative network analyses) and group discussions with volunteers in Saxon schools in rural areas, including the necessary approvals and data protection regulations,
  • Evaluation of the collected data and summary of the scientific findings into recommendations for action and their communicative validation,
  • Documentation, reporting, dissemination of project content,
  • Project coordination and public relations,
  • Supporting the project management in project administration,
  • Cooperation with teachers and students.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed academic university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. educational sciences, social sciences, social work, childhood education, teaching degree),
  • Sound knowledge of qualitative social science research methods (data collection and data analysis),
  • Ability to work on projects independently, in a structured and cooperative manner,
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in German and good communication skills in English.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Initial experience with research in educational contexts,
  • Experience in project management,
  • Knowledge of the Saxon school system.
