The current exchange project once again focused on inclusion-related topics.
From May 18 to 23, 2018, a delegation from the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University in eastern Ukraine visited our university for the third year in a row. The impetus for the first visit was provided by three students of special education/inclusion studies as part of a study project in 2015. The current exchange project with the three students and two lecturers from the Faculties of Social Pedagogy and Philology again focused on inclusion-related topics.
Since 2017, Ukraine has had a new and innovative education law that enables inclusive approaches to be incorporated into the education system. In this context, early intervention centers have also been expanded throughout Ukraine for the first time, which are geared towards the individual needs of children. The Pedagogical University in Hlukhiv is responding to this change and will be offering an "Inclusive Pedagogy" module in the Master's degree course in Philology from the coming winter semester. This course is comparable to a teacher training course.
The Ukrainian guests took part in various courses on the Curative Education/Inclusion Studies degree program and presented their theoretical and practical approaches to educational diagnostics, among other things. Joint topics for Bachelor's and Master's theses were discussed. In addition, there were visits to the Waldkindergarten Görlitz and the Schkola Ostritz, as well as a guided tour of the Rabryka socio-cultural center, and four Görlitz students also accompanied the group in their free time.
Everyone involved can look back on an eventful week of study and is looking forward to the return exchange. The return visit by the Görlitz students will take place in September 2018.
The exchange was financially supported by the DAAD's Eastern Partnership Program.
