Graduate colloquium at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences

On April 13, 2018, a graduate colloquium for electrical engineering graduates will take place at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

On April 13, 2018, a graduate colloquium for electrical engineering graduates will take place at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has sent out over 700 invitations to its electrical engineering graduates. Around 150 participants are expected to attend next Friday.

The very demanding program is designed almost exclusively by graduates themselves. Many of them are now working in responsible positions in the energy industry. For example, Dr.-Ing. Lutz Pscherer (matriculation E76) from 50Hertz Transmission will speak on the topic of "50Hertz Transmission - A transmission system operator in change mode". Dipl.-Ing. Detlef Timmermann (matriculation E81) from CONSULECTRA will discuss the effects of the energy transition on the operational management of electrical grids at . Dipl.-Ing. Sebastian Ebert (Matrikel E00) from NKT HVC GmbH will speak on the topic of "Extruded XLPE DC cable technology and experience up to 525/640KV - an important building block for the German energy transition". Dr.-Ing. Christiane Bär (Matrikel E05) from Pfisterer Sefag AG will speak on "Composite insulators as a possibility for compacting HV overhead lines" and Dr.-Ing. Frank Otto (Matrikel E77) from Drewag Netz will shed light on the new tasks of a distribution network operator.

The event will conclude with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Jörg Lässig, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, on "IT security in electrical grids", a problem that fundamentally affects all areas.

Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the newly reconstructed House Z I and the new electrical engineering laboratories for the practical training of students. These include the laboratories for basic training (large laboratory hall), for protection and control technology/building control technology, the smart grid laboratory, the laboratory for control and safety technology for Deutsche Bahn, the EMC laboratory, the high-voltage hall and the cable diagnostics laboratory.

The graduates can thus see for themselves the excellent study and working conditions at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The graduate colloquium will conclude with an evening event in the Volkshaus Zittau.
