Elderly man looks out of the window

As society ages, this topic is becoming increasingly relevant. How can social withdrawal in old age be counteracted? What role can technology, digital assistants and social innovations play in this?

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences invites you to a symposium that will look at the causes, effects and, above all, solutions to loneliness in old age. The focus is on the combination of science, practice and technology: from current research results and digital assistance systems to innovative practical examples from Saxony.

The event will include contributions from the VATI6 research project, workshops on digital everyday helpers such as Alexa or AI-based chatbots, as well as insights into best practice examples from the region. Interested citizens and stakeholders from science, care, social work, civil society, politics and technology development are invited.

The symposium offers space for exchange, discussion and new collaborations. The aim is to develop concrete perspectives for more social participation of older people - with and beyond technology.
