Loneliness in old age affects millions of people - not only emotionally, but also in terms of health and society. As society ages, this issue is becoming increasingly relevant. How can social withdrawal in old age be counteracted? What role can technology, digital helpers and social innovations play in this?

The Institute for Health, Ageing, Work Technology at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is hosting a symposium to raise awareness of technical options to combat loneliness in old age. The event will include contributions from the research projects VATI6research projects, a study on the use of technology in old age and the presentation of the new practical research center Görlitzwhich will develop into a central information and contact point for people in need of care, carers and other stakeholders in the future.

The event will also provide plenty of space to discuss challenges and doubts and to make opportunities and wishes visible

Interested citizens, especially senior citizens, informal and professional caregivers and other stakeholders from science, care, social work, civil society, politics and technology development are invited.

The symposium offers space for exchange, discussion and new collaborations. The aim is to develop concrete perspectives for greater social participation of older people - with and beyond technology.
