Sustainability guidelines - why is that?

We are shaping a sustainable campus: fields of action formulate the new sustainability guidelines.

The United Nations has set 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for humanity. We have a German sustainability strategy. And we are called upon by the Free State of Saxony via a Saxon strategy for sustainable development.

So why has our Rectorate once again adopted its own sustainability guidelines for our university?

With the new sustainability guidelines published in the HIP, the university has formulated a strategic understanding and framework for sustainable ecological, economic and social development throughout the university. This means that we know what a sustainable approach to everyday university life should mean for us students and employees. In addition, we now know the fields of action in which we must make a contribution to environmental, climate and resource protection as well as to socially and culturally equal and low-conflict interaction with one another.

The practical, operational implementation is carried out by our MACH MIT environmental management system according to the concept of the Sustainable Campus modular system. The MACH MIT environmental management system builds on many years of successful implementation of environmental management in accordance with the EMAS system. As the first German EMAS university in 1999, we would like to continue to fulfill our pioneering, exemplary and multiplier function, which distinguishes us as Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

You are cordially invited to join in and get involved! Thank you very much!
