At the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences, a position (40 hours/week) is available at the earliest possible date as a

Laboratory and Teaching Assistant (m/f/d) - Keyword: Ecology -

to be filled for the duration of the substitution until 31.08.2024, possibly extended. The position is divisible.

The position includes the following tasks in particular:

  • Management of the laboratories of the appointment area "General, Experimental and Applied Ecology" and safety officer for the laboratories of the specialist group "Ecology and Environmental Protection,
  • Organization, instruction, supervision and evaluation of laboratory, field and outdoor experiments and excursions, including the preparation and updating of the necessary teaching and practical documents,
  • Conducting seminars and exercises in accordance with § 78 SächsHSG (teacher for special tasks),
  • independent implementation of individual modules in the field of vegetation science/field ecology in consultation with the faculty and
  • Supporting the faculty with administrative tasks.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed, preferably scientific university degree in applied ecology, biology or a subject related to the above-mentioned area of responsibility or comparable,
  • Knowledge of the practical implementation of laboratory safety, health and fire protection regulations,
  • Knowledge of the theory and laboratory practice of population genetics,
  • Knowledge of botany,
  • Knowledge of or willingness to acquire knowledge of study procedures and business processes of the faculty's teaching operations.

In addition, the following are desirable

  • Several years of relevant professional experience,
  • didactic knowledge and experience in the field of science as well as in the creation of teaching and information materials and experimental procedures,
  • knowledge of university business processes and
  • a working knowledge of foreign languages (English).

  • willingness and interest in further professional and personal development.

If the personal requirements are met, remuneration will be paid up to pay group 12 TV-L (with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience). The 1st place of work is Zittau.
